Description
This classic Pauillac is plush and aromatic, with hints of super ripe black cherry and bramble fruit, while the palate is graced with elegant, rolling tannins and a long, fruit expressive finish.
In 1750, the Pecresse-Perrier family had the opportunity to buy a few acres in one of the best vineyards in Pauillac. The plot of land was situated in between three producers you may have heard of: Chateau Latour, Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande and Chateau Picon Baron. Sometimes you must act fast in business, before these prestigious estates realized it, there was a little stranger adjacent to them that started to challenge them right in their own vineyards!
Fast forward 265 years, the last heir of the Pecresse-Prrier family passed away and Chateau Bellevue was put up for sale. IT was at this time Chris Cardon a highly regarded Belgian citizen came to Bordeaux to run the well-known Medoc marathon. Chris instantly fell in love with the region and its beauty. Shortly thereafter Chris decided he wanted a Chateau of his own. By this time the competition for the Bellvue property had already begun and it was the titans at Chateau Latour and Chateau Picon Comtesse leading the charge. IT is EXTREMELY rare for a property surrounded by 1st and 2nd growth estates to even come to market. Typically, the property will be consumed by one of the classified growths. Chris Cardon was not deterred by the competing offers as he made a fortune in the pharmaceutical industry, and he ended up besting the offers by Latour and Picon Comtesse.
The estate “Bellevue-Cardon” was established in 2015 with only 5 acres of Vineyards. Withing those 5 acres are several lots of vines with an average age of 55 years. While most Chateau’s on the left bank can boast they produce thousands of cases, even 10’s of thousands of cases, this property only produces around 350 cases each year. The consulting winemaker is Eric Boissenot who mainly consults for left bank Medoc properties including Latour, Lafite-Rothschild, Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Palmer, Pichon Comtesse, Pichon Baron, Ducru-Beaucaillou, Léoville Barton, Brane Cantenac, Léoville La Cazes, Gruaud-Larose. Just to name a few
