Description
Shy at first and reserved but opens with time in glass. Very close to the surface today. Black fruit, mulberry, scorched earth, black cherry and rosemary. Loam, toasty oak and pencil shavings. Dark with brambly charm. Quiet and sturdy today, but so much promise looking forward. Structurally reminiscent of the profound 2015 Desafio. Graced with persistent tannins from this warm and dry vintage that add to the overall power of the wine. Lovely and classic Desafio with balance, density and vibrant acidity. Relaxes its shoulders a bit after half an hour or so reacting with oxygen in the glass. One for the cellar and table with big protein.
80% new French oak, 20% neutral French oak.
