Description
Rosso Alpi Retiche is cherry-red. The nose offers aromas of red fruits, delicate pepper spice, and a minty freshness, underpinned by a fresh yet dusty granite-like minerality. On the palate, it is juicy and vibrant, with a complex and instantly pleasurable profile.
Barbacàn’s Rosso Alpi Retiche is crafted in the Valtellina region of Lombardy, Italy, renowned for its steep, terraced vineyards nestled in the Rhaetian Alps. The primary grape is Chiavennasca (the local name for Nebbiolo), complemented by indigenous varieties such as Rossola, Rossolino Rosa, Brugnola, Pignola, Negrera, Chiavennaschino, and Chiavennasca Bianco. These vines thrive in sandy and loamy granite soils rich in silica, at altitudes between 700 and 800 meters. Traditional vinification involves spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by approximately twenty days of maceration. The wine is then aged for nine months in neutral 3,000-liter oak botti, resulting in a vibrant and complex expression of the Alpine terroir.
