Arínzano is above all a magnificently wild and vibrant landscape, an oasis in an otherwise arid environment which occupies 350 hectares, with only a third dedicated to vines. This thousand- year-old glacial valley collects a current of fresh air from the Atlantic that crosses the last massifs of the Sierra Urbasa to rush down the river, towards the slopes of the vineyards. In this vast amphitheatre, the combined energies of the Cierzo wind and the Ega river give each plot a particular inflection. Earth, stone and water give the area its power, energy and emotion. Arínzano is made up of 128 hectares of vineyards: 40 hectares of Chardonnay, 18 hectares of Merlot and 70 hectares of Tempranillo. The vineyards are planted on soils made up of marl, sand, limestone and limonite from the Neogene era, together with gypsum and dolomites from the Triassic period. Each of the varieties was planted in a specific type of soil and at a specific orientation.
