Description
Bright sour-cherry nose with a wide spectrum of red-berry notes. Impressive balance of healthy tannins, good concentration and lively acidity makes this easy to enjoy. Just coming to its best. From vineyards just below the marble quarry of Corgoloin. From sustainably grown grapes.
This is a very small estate, producing just north of 8,000 cases per year. And for the last 30 years, most of their wine has been sold directly to customers in France. Lucky for us, our friends at MISA imports have connections!
Poulettes is located in the village of Corgoloin, the southernmost in the Cote de Nuits. Not surprisingly, this wine offers the fleshy, round fruit we find in northern Beaune appellations, particularly Aloxe-Corton. But grown every so slightly further north, the wine also packs a fine tannic backbone. Virile and broad-shouldered, yet balanced by intense aromas and succulent fruit, it is a wonderful match for Sunday’s roast chicken. The Bourgogne website also comments: “Its aromatic power is sufficient to cope with chunky or smooth pâtés, roasted or fried offal, and suppler meats such as pork (roasted or in sauce), well-roasted lamb, or braised veal. It goes best with cheeses that have a well-marked flavour: Époisses, Langres, Ami du Chambertin…”
